Tribute to A Beloved Friend: Mr. Cyril Idemudia Etomi, An Accomplished Surgeon

That’s would be my beloved friend hollering loudly at me as I would banter back calling him “Lord CY”. Those were our call signals in our young days, and they remained so till the sun went down on my friend.

Born March 10 1949, Cy lived as a fine gentleman, high achieving surgeon, great family man and a trusted friend with a smashing sense of humour.

Given the ebb and flow of life for every human, we lost contact for quite a while, but I was gladdened to have had opportunities to visit with him of recent. It saddened me gravely to learn that he passed in Lagos, Nigeria on August 20, 2024. He left behind his most devoted, warm and loving wife, Efun - a distinguished eye doctor in her own right, five sweet and accomplished children and a close Esan family that he headed during his lifetime.

My memory of his warm friendship will remain cherished. He would be greatly missed. 

Sincere condolences to his entire family as they mourn his loss.

As he is finally laid to rest, here is bidding my friend, "Lord CY", a warm goodbye!
